I’m a forty-something mom who never thought of giving up work let alone a career until I saw my bundle of joy! Stay home for six months and then but him in daycare?! Were they kidding me?! How could I possibly hand over this most perfect little being; this little being that had always been a part of me, inside of me. Well, I just couldn’t, and yes, I know that it’s very doable. So I became a stay at home mom; who would have ever thought! Unfortunately, no one pays you for this career choice, and bills still need paying. For those of you who chose this same path, you know how scary it can be when the money that you were bringing in just doesn’t come in anymore. So, I figured that doing something from home would help my situation. What to do?! Let me tell you that I have done and tried many things. Did I make money? Yes, I did, but I got bored with all those ideas, and eventually would work less; not such a good idea if you want to keep making money. One thing I have always done is read, write, and socialize. My great escapes! A good friend of mine looked at me one day and said you need some sort of book business; you’re all about books! What a novel idea(pun intended)! So, here I go off on my new and I must say exciting adventure!
Hope you enjoy the trip!
Marisa.
I keep thinking that this page should have more. Why would you want to read me otherwise? Have I said enough to merit a following? I haven’t mentioned that I have a sense of humor, and no, not everyone has one. I find lots of situations and some people funny, and the rest just think they’re funny. I can laugh at myself; I don’t want to fall on my knees in hysterics at myself, but a chuckle doesn’t faze me.
One thing I can not tolerate is stupidity. I’m okay with people not having the information or knowledge, but being stupid in any situation bugs me. For instance, I was visiting my sister in T.O. this past week and we were out shopping. It was already 9pm, which means closing time, and there were still quite a few people in line to pay. Why? Well, because this one customer decided to make a scene. She was so rude and so loud, that had it been okay for me to slap her upside the head I would have! She was trying to bring back a garment, and the salesperson helping her informed her that since the garment didn’t have a label and they didn’t carry that particular garment, she would have to go back to the store she purchased it from. Frustrating to hear, of course, but turning into “stupid” woman certainly wasn’t endearing her to the staff nor the line of us waiting to pay. All this to say, I hate stupidity.
I love to cook which means that I will often speak of it and recipes I have tried. I would love to own a bistro, of course it would house a shelf of books!
I volunteer lots! I’m a hockey mom and fan…go Habs! Yeah, I know, terrible year! We’ve lost Komisarek, my eye candy. Such a “girl thing” to say, but none the less, true. Now it looks like we will lose Koivu, my favorite player! I wish he’d stay, he’s always in it, never gives up, creates many of the plays, oh, I wish he’d stay. Okay enough about hockey. I also do volunteering at my son’s school, lots of it.
I love my friends. I see them more as extended family. I will most definitely refer to them in posts, so you’ll get to them.
I come from a tight knit family, parents, no divorce, two sisters and a brother. Then add two brother-in-laws, a sister-in-law, two nieces and two nephews. I’m Italian, so if we live within an hour of each other we are expected to get together at least once a week, and preferably at Mama’s otherwise we are given a dose of guilt. My family doesn’t end here; I have my husband’s family as well. Smaller, and much more relaxed! My mother-in-law, let’s just leave that there, a brother-in-law, and a sister-in-law. We are the international family! My husband’s family is Chinese, and I’m Italian. My brother-in-law married Linda who is English, and the best mother I know. They have three kids, so I have two more nephews and a niece. I hope my son turns out to be like them. They are three of my absolute favorite people. Missy, my niece, just announced that she is marrying Dave! Yeah! Dave is great. My sister-in-law, Vicky, is the most soft spoken person. She married Andrew, who is Jewish, and is easy to adopt any culture. He owns the Cereal Bar in Toronto. Who doesn’t like cereal! They have a daughter, my niece, who is as cute as a button!
I’m quite dominating, but you guessed that when I said that I’m Italian. I’m a romantic, and I am forever trying to grow. So enough about me for now. I will post a picture soon, once I find the perfect one, what an endeavor!
Blog later,
M.

I wish you success in your book business. You certainly have a nice website and the ads don’t knock off the posts like some I know.
